Amid ongoing political and regional divisions between the North and South, former federal lawmaker and social commentator, Senator Shehu Sani, has highlighted four key events that momentarily bring Nigerians together.
In a post shared via his official Facebook page on Saturday, the former Kaduna Central senator remarked on how fleeting but powerful moments of national unity tend to emerge in specific circumstances.
He wrote:
“Four things that unite Nigerians: Super Eagles, when they are winning; South Africans, when they launch xenophobic attacks against Nigerians; our artists, when they win Grammys; and Kemi Badenoch, when she attacks.”

Sani’s statement is viewed as a reflection of the emotional triggers that transcend ethnic, political, or regional differences in Nigeria — particularly during sports victories, national pride in global recognition, or when faced with perceived external criticism.
His remarks come at a time when national cohesion is being tested by political tensions, regional agitation, and economic hardship.
Sani, known for his candid political commentary, has frequently used social media platforms to weigh in on national issues, often mixing satire with social critique.
