Vice President Kashim Shettima has acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians but urged citizens to support President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office.
Shettima made the appeal while addressing supporters and political stakeholders during an engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He admitted that many Nigerians were experiencing hardship but maintained that the Tinubu administration was committed to addressing the country’s economic challenges through its ongoing reforms.
The Vice President urged Nigerians not to abandon the administration, arguing that the policies introduced by the President required time to produce the desired results.
He called on supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united and mobilise voters across the country to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
Shettima also appealed to Nigerians to consider the administration’s efforts and the direction of its economic policies rather than judging its performance solely by the immediate difficulties citizens were experiencing.
According to him, the government remained determined to improve the economy, strengthen national development and create better opportunities for Nigerians.
The Vice President’s remarks come amid growing public concerns over the cost of living, rising prices of essential commodities, unemployment and other economic pressures.
The Tinubu administration has continued to defend its economic reforms, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system, arguing that they are necessary to stabilise the economy in the long term.
However, opposition parties and critics have repeatedly questioned the impact of the policies on ordinary Nigerians, demanding more effective measures to ease the hardship.
Shettima’s appeal forms part of the APC’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as the ruling party seeks to secure another term for Tinubu.
