Six persons have been abducted by gunmen in Hayin Gizo, a suburb of Garun Kurama in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday during a terrifying operation that lasted from 1:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m., according to a local source who spoke to newsmen.
The source said the kidnappers stormed the community with dangerous weapons and took away six able-bodied men and one woman. However, the woman was later released along the way due to her deteriorating health condition.

Among the abductees are two Igbo traders who reside and conduct business in the area.
Calling for urgent intervention, the source appealed to security agencies and well-meaning individuals to help ensure the safe return of the victims. He described them as peasant farmers who live from hand-to-mouth, stressing that their families are unable to afford ransom payments.
Lere, along with neighbouring local government areas such as Kauru, Kachia, Zango Kataf, and Jema’a, has witnessed a troubling spike in abductions and attacks by unknown gunmen in recent months.
