Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo are the three players in contention to win the club’s Player of the Month award for October, as per the club’s official website.
.
The Red Devils have won just one of their six games in October, drawing four and losing to Middlesbrough on penalties in the Capital One Cup. They have failed to score in their last three outings in all competitions.
.
Smalling and Martial were both up for the September award, but the pair lost out to Juan Mata. Smalling was also up for the accolade in August.
.
Smalling has been in fine form this season, and he has played every minute of United’s six games this
month. He has been part of a defence that hasn’t conceded a goal in their last three fixtures.
.
Martial has started every game in October, barring the defeat to Middlesbrough. He has not scored a
league goal, but he has been impressive on the
left-hand side.
.
He also managed to pick up his first ever Champions League goal in the 1-1 draw with CSKA Moscow.
.
Rojo has made a return to the starting line-up in recent weeks, and he was particularly impressive
in the draw with Manchester City.
.
United face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday, as they look to open up a three point lead over their Russian opponents.
.
They then host West Brom in the league at the weekend.
