Mohamed Salah Can Help Liverpool Win The League – Paul Ince

salahFormer Liverpool players Paul Ince and Patrik Berger have said they believe the signing of Roma winger Mohamed Salah has moved the club closer to a first Premier League title.

Liverpool confirmed the signing of Salah on Thursday in a deal that could be worth €50 million, according to the Serie A side.

He had been close to joining Liverpool from Basel in January 2014, but instead opted to move to Chelsea.

But he had an unsuccessful spell at Stamford Bridge, making just 19 appearances in two seasons before moving to Fiorentina on loan in 2015 and signing permanently for Roma last summer after a loan spell.

Berger told Omnisport he felt Salah was “a great addition to the squad” and added: “He’s a good player, technically he’s very good, fast, he can score goals, create goals.

“He has already been in the Premier League, so he knows what to expect. I think he is a better player than when he was in the Premier League a couple of years ago.”

Berger said he felt Jurgen Klopp’s side were “close” to being able to win the Premier League, adding: “You can see that everyone is happy and they’re enjoying their football.

“Last year around Christmas everybody was talking about them being good enough to win the league, then they had a bad spell.

“I think they are close. If they can get a few more signings this summer, then I think they can definitely challenge for the Premier League title. If they can get four more players, they will be good enough.”

Former midfielder Ince, meanwhile, said he felt Liverpool fans would enjoy watching Salah in action.

He told Sky Sports: “I think it’s a good bit of business. I watched him play a lot this year at Roma. He scored a few goals — 15 or 16 I think he got, playing on the right wing.

“It didn’t really work for him at Chelsea — he didn’t get enough game time, I don’t think. But he’s gone away, got his confidence back and I think he’ll be a great addition to Liverpool and the fans will enjoy seeing him play.”
