Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, has stated that Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has not declared his intention to seek a second term in office.
This clarification comes amidst speculations suggesting otherwise.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday, Mefor acknowledged that while the governor has not officially announced plans for re-election, he believes Soludo will be persuaded to contest due to his outstanding performance since assuming office.

“Governor Soludo has not declared any intention to run for a second term. He is focused on implementing policies to further the development of the state,” Mefor said.
“I am one of those who will encourage him to run, and if he does, I will ensure his victory. He has proven to be the kind of leader Anambra people desire.”
Mefor emphasized that the zoning arrangement in Anambra, which favors candidates from the South for a second term, aligns with Soludo’s prospects.
“The zoning formula in Anambra supports a second term for governors from the South, and Soludo is well-positioned to benefit from this arrangement,” he added.
He further noted that Soludo’s track record speaks for itself. “If Soludo decides to run, he won’t need to make promises—he will simply present his achievements.
His tangible, verifiable contributions to the state’s development will be enough to secure re-election,” Mefor stated.
The commissioner also dismissed potential opposition, noting that many of the same individuals who ran against Soludo in the past, when he was not governor, are now planning to contest again.
“Soludo won them then, and he will win them again, now with proof of his accomplishments for the people of Anambra,” he concluded.
