The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Southwest area has taken a jab at their counterparts in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the ultimatum that was given to the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, to return to the state from his residence in Ibadan.
The APC youths, who converged on Akure, the state capital, yesterday, made the statement that there is no vacuum in the governance of the state despite the insinuation that there is one. They made this statement while also disclosing that Akeredolu will soon return to the state.
Comrade Kolade Lawal, the youth leader of the party in the region, emphasized during a press briefing that Akeredolu’s departure from the state was entirely for the purpose of recuperating and regaining his vigor.

On Monday, the youth wing of the PDP issued Akeredolu an ultimatum demanding that he come to the state within the next three days or resign from office.
“In a few days, he (Akeredolu) will join us, but not in accordance with the threat of the opposition parties,” Akeredolu is quoted as saying. There is not a single dollar’s worth of unpaid salaries owed by the Ondo state government. Ibadan is where the governor now is. It is essential for him to get some rest.
“The activities related to governance are still going on. He is making a speedy recovery. He participated in Zoom sessions with Obas and a number of other organizations. He has been interacting with several individuals.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will make a speedy and full recovery so that he can be with us again soon. Even God, who was responsible for creating everything, decided to give himself a day off on the seventh day so that he could recharge his batteries.
“The decision that Governor Akeredolu made to seek rest and change his typical work schedule in order to allow him to fully heal is a monument to his human nature, and it reminds us that even leaders are not free from the challenges that come with being made of flesh and blood.
“Let us not forget the days when Mr. Governor fought for us,” the speaker said. During the time that herdsmen were on a murderous rampage in this region, he maintained his composure and defended Ondo State as well as the Southwest as a whole. He has been a rock of support and a voice for others who have none of either. This level of confidence and understanding is owed to him. He claimed that throughout the entire season, he has been a leader.
