Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has affirmed that the governors of the South-West zone will continue to collaborate to ensure the continuity of the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps.
Aiyedatiwa made this commitment on Thursday following a five-kilometer walk from the Cathedral area to the Governor’s office in Akure by officers and men of the Amotekun Corps.
The walk was joined by Amotekun commanders from the five South-West states of Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Ogun, and Ondo to honor the late governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Expressing appreciation for the corps’ efforts in safeguarding lives and property in the region, Aiyedatiwa emphasized the critical role of Amotekun in ensuring security.
He assured that the state governments would continue to provide support to sustain the network.
“The security of lives and properties of the people of the South-West zone is very important to us.
We will use whatever is in our possession to support and sustain Amotekun,” he stated.
Governor Aiyedatiwa commended the Amotekun commanders and their men for honoring the late Akeredolu, acknowledging his significant impact on the state and the Amotekun initiative.
In response, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, Commander of Ondo State Security Network and Chairman of the South-West Amotekun Commanders, expressed gratitude to the officers and men for their dedication.
He also highlighted the support received from all South-West governors, affirming their solidarity with Ondo State.
