The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the administration of President Bola Tinubu wants to kill him, declaring that his life is under threat following an attack on him in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore made the allegation on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he spoke about the attack by suspected political thugs at a restaurant in the state capital.

The activist claimed that he had been a target of successive Nigerian governments because of his opposition to what he described as illegitimate political leadership.
He alleged that the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, knew the people responsible for the attack, claiming that the commissioner visited the scene while he and members of his team were receiving medical attention.
According to Sowore, the police commissioner was aware of the injuries sustained by the victims and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He also recalled an earlier incident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he alleged that a tracking device was placed under his vehicle and traced to the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sowore further referenced his previous confrontation with the Federal Government over his criticism of President Tinubu, including the criminal defamation charge arising from his description of the President as a criminal.
“My life is at stake and I have been a threat to the government since I was 20 years old. I’m opposed to the illegitimacy of the government. Were you not here when Buhari abducted me from a hotel in Lagos? Is it not the same APC government?
“The issue is that we were attacked unprovoked in Ekiti State. I have been a threat and they want to kill me,” he said.
The AAC candidate maintained that the incident was an unprovoked attack and accused security agencies of failing to address the circumstances surrounding the violence.
The Ekiti State Police Command had earlier denied reports that Sowore was kidnapped, explaining that preliminary information indicated he was involved in an altercation with some individuals at a restaurant in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti.
The command said police operatives responded to the incident, rescued him and confirmed that he sustained an injury for which he was receiving medical attention.
It also announced that the Commissioner of Police had ordered an investigation to establish what happened and identify those involved.
However, Sowore rejected the police account, insisting that he and his entourage were attacked rather than involved in an altercation.
The incident has generated reactions from political and civil society figures, with calls for a thorough investigation and the prosecution of anyone found responsible.
Sowore, meanwhile, insisted that the attack would not stop him from pursuing his political activities or speaking against what he considers wrongdoing by the government.
