Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, affirmed the crucial importance of the current administration not failing the Nigerian people during President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2024 appropriation bill.
Addressing the assembly, Abbas acknowledged the challenging circumstances faced by millions of citizens, stressing that the government must provide swift and sustainable solutions to alleviate the difficulties faced by the people.
“It is a well-known reality that millions of citizens are going through really difficult times.
For this reason, they also look to the Tinubu-led government to provide quick and sustainable solutions,” stated Abbas.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s antecedents and track record, Abbas expressed confidence in the President’s ability to bring about positive change, emphasizing that the administration cannot afford to fail Nigerians.
“If anyone can change the rot and chart a new course for Nigeria, it is you.
Ihave no doubt whatsoever that we can measure up to the expectations of Nigerians through your visionary leadership and the commitment of the National Assembly,” Abbas declared.
He underscored the significance of viewing the budget not merely as a financial document but as a representation of united determination to address the most pressing needs of the citizens.
Abbas emphasized that the 2024 Budget should prioritize social welfare measures to alleviate poverty and inequality, fostering economic growth and development in the country.
