ABUJA (Presidency Report) –
The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ajadi Suleiman has advocated for a non-militancy unionism in the country as workers nationwide engage in the 2014 workers day celebration.
While speaking at the Centenary Parliamentary Workers Celebration held recently, the Special Adviser said that it is only in a peaceful atmosphere that workers can achieve their aims, especially the provision of welfare package to their members.
Ajadi Suleiman expressed appreciation for the non-militant brand of unionism practiced by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria; saying the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature can only be strengthened through the cooperation of the workers, whom he described as major stakeholders in the affiliation. He appealed to them to promote peace and avoid rancor and bitterness. He recalled that on previous May Day Celebrations, union leaders have only been identified with abusive language on the government and the President.
