The Department of State Security Services in Abuja has informed the Nigerian public about its alertness to the incessant provocative statements by some Nigerians, who are threatening violence ahead of the 2015 general elections.
A statement from the Deputy Director in the Public Relations Unit of the Department, Marilyn Ogar on Thursday January 23, 2014 has described the comments as offensive, misguided and directed at stirring hate amongst Nigerians.
According to her, the State Service and other law enforcement agencies have the mandate to protect the country and its citizens. “We therefore warn all subversive elements that are bent on promoting divisive and disruptive agenda to desist from such as the full weight of the law shall henceforth be brought to bear accordingly,” she stated.
Marilyn Ogar called on all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and to assist security agencies in ensuring a safe society for the Nigerian population.
