Denmark midfielder, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has come out to say that he was less than impressed with the penalty awarded in Sterling’s favor. He recently revealed that he doesn’t understand the usefulness of VAR if such errors are allowed to occur.
According to him, he still doesn’t know what the VAR officials were thinking while they were watching the replay of the incident because the lack of foul was glaring.
Hojbjerg added that sometimes these referees need to be asked questions about their decisions on the pitch.
His words, “If there is no VAR on, errors can occur, but when there is a VAR, they must be allowed to stand here afterwards. How do they feel? What were they thinking? What was their view on it all?”
“It is easy as a player to have to answer one thing and another and not have to comment, but sometimes you would like to hear from the referee himself what he thought.”
