Storage Made Easy Release a CMIS Connector for Their Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution
Storage Made Easy today announced they have implemented a CMIS connector for their Enterprise File Share and Sync “cloud control” solution, which can be deployed on-premise or on IaaS.
London, United Kingdom, June 13, 2014 –(PR.com)– Storage Made Easy the private Enterprise File Share and Sync solution vendor today announced they had added a Connector for file and storage vendors that supports the Content Management Interoperability services (CMIS) specification.
Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is an open standard that allows different content management systems to inter-operate over the Internet. CMIS defines an abstraction layer for controlling diverse document management systems and repositories using web protocols.
Examples of CMIS enabled systems include Alfresco, Documentum, Filenet, and OpenText.
SME users of CMIS data repositories will gain access to network drive integration direct to the CMIS data store, desktop sync, and email integration for Mac, Windows,or Linux desktops. All mobile devices are supported, and there are specific integrations for Microsoft Office and Open Office.
Jim Liddle Storage Made Easy CEO stated, “Adding CMIS to the SME platform was an easy choice to make. One of the aims of the CMIS specification was the development of generic clients for multiple repositories. Similarly the SME solution already works against an increasingly large repository of File, Storage and SaaS vendors to provide a single access and control and point for client access in conjunction with secure file sharing and corporate governance and policy control.”
Liddle finished by saying “As we engage with more enterprises with our private enterprise file share and sync we will continue to integrate and use the corporate repositories they work with and CMIS repositories are an important part of this.”
About Storage Made Easy:
The Storage Made Easy EFSS solution is storage agnostic and can be used as an Enterprise File Share and sync solution with one or more public or private storage clouds.
The solution allows IT to regain control of “cloud data sprawl” by unifying private / public company data and privately used employee cloud data solutions into a single converged infrastructure. This can easily be managed and be used to set and enforce governance and audit controls for file access and sharing in addition to providing deep content search of indexed data.
This approach provided a solution to the “shadow IT” conundrum and makes it possible for companies to find a balance between the protection of corporate data and employee data by allowing businesses to monitor, secure and audit all data silos, be they private or cloud or company or employee, from a single access point.
