Feelers from the Nigeria Football Federation suggest that there will be some changes as regards how players are invited for national assignments as well adding more specialised hands to the Super Eagles back-room staff.
The 2-0 reversal against South Africa in Uyo last weekend sent shockwaves throughout the Nigerian football fraternity which necessitated a meeting between Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and the Federation.
Tuesday’s meeting, which saw the Minister of Youths and Sports Solomon Dalung in attendance, saw a list of proposals tabled for Rohr which includes a proper scrutiny of his team selection for games and recommendations by the Technical Committee of the Federation headed by Chris Green.
Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr will henceforth submit his list of invited players to the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation for verification before it is made public.
There is also a proposal to add a Sports Psychologist to the Eagles back-room staff so as to be able to get the players mentally ready for the challenges ahead.
The team has not had a psychologist attached to them since the services of Dr Robinson Okosun was dispensed off two years ago.
The Super Eagles next game will be against Cameroon in August at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium as the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia resumes.
