The Supreme Court has nullified the judgments of the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court that sacked Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A five-member panel of the apex court ruled on Friday that the position of the PDP National Secretary falls within the internal affairs of the party and is therefore not subject to judicial intervention.
Court Lacks Jurisdiction

Delivering the lead judgment, Justice Jamilu Tukur struck out the trial court’s October 2023 ruling and set aside the majority judgment of the Court of Appeal, which had upheld Anyanwu’s removal in December.
The Supreme Court instead affirmed the minority judgment of the appellate court, delivered by Justice Ekanem, which had nullified the trial court’s ruling due to a lack of jurisdiction.
Additionally, the apex court held that the plaintiff, Aniagu Emmanuel, who filed the suit, lacked the legal standing to challenge Anyanwu’s position, as he failed to demonstrate how he was personally affected by the appointment of the PDP National Secretary.
