Goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew’s second Premier League goal inspired Swansea City to a 2-0 win at home to Newcastle United on Saturday.
Daryl janmaat’s miserable afternoon culminated with a second booking, leaving the Tyne side outfit to finish the match with ten men at the Liberty Stadium.
Jack Cork came on for the injured Ki Sung-Yeung as Steve McClaren named an unchanged Newcastle side from last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Southampton.
The Magpies were pegged back inside their own half early on and rarely threatened the hosts from the first minute until the last. They could have fetched the ball from inside of their goal as early as in the third minute, had Tim Krull not gathered an audacious Jonjo Shelvey 20-yard shot.
The former Charlton and Liverpool midfielder nonetheless succeeded in threading a neat pass to Bafetimbi Gomis, who first beat the offside trap, and then Krul, before slotting into an empty net in the 9th minute.

Dutch defender Daryl Janmaat was left ruing some poor decision four minutes from the break, when he tugged on the shirt of Jefferson Montero after gifting possession inside his own half to pick up his second booking; hence, his marching order.
Spaniard, Montero, who punished Chelsea in last week’s 2-2 draw, came close to doubling the Welsh outfit’s lead in the 44th minute but was caught at the mercy of the Newcastle upright, clattering his right-foot shot against the base of the post from 18 yards.
The numerical advantage continued to pay off for Swansea in the second half, but Gylfi Sigurdsson was hard donned by the underside of the crossbar after beating Krull with a terrific shot from 25 yards, rebounding back to safety.
Andre Ayew eventually doubled the lead for the Garry Monk side seven minutes after the interval; the Ghana international heading into the net from Montero’s cross from the left.
Ayew came close to doubling his tally but sent his header, off another Montero cross, wide on 62 minutes as Swansea recorded their first win of the new season.
