Tanzania has installed Martin Ignatius as national coach with a mandate to lead the country’s Taifa Stars to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ignatius, popularly known as Mart Nooij, starts work immediately, said the Tanzania Football Federation’s Michael Wambura.
Nooij’s appointment follows the sacking of Kim Poulsen and his entire technical staff after a failed campaign at last year’s GOTV Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya.
Nooij, 59, takes over the Taifa Stars after a stint with Ethiopian side St George. He has also previously worked in South Africa with Santos FC, Mozambique and Burkina Faso.
Tanzania get their campaign for Morocco 2015 next month with a first round tie against Zimbabwe and should they progress face the winner of the fixture Mozambique vs South sudan for a place in Group F which has Zambia, Cape Verde and Niger.
