The Taraba State House of Assembly on Wednesday approved a supplementary budget of over ₦128 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The approval followed the first and second readings of the appropriation bill presented to the legislature by Governor Agbu Kefas.
According to lawmakers, the funds are to be sourced from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund and will focus on priority areas not covered in the original 2025 budget.

Governor Kefas explained that the supplementary appropriation would target critical sectors including agriculture, healthcare, and security, stressing that the intervention was necessary to consolidate ongoing development efforts.
He further disclosed that the State Executive Council had endorsed an additional ₦14 billion in financial requirements.
During plenary, the Majority Leader, Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu, raised a point of order that enabled the bill to progress to its second reading. Subsequently, Speaker John Kizito Bonzena referred the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative scrutiny.
In a related development, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill scaled its first reading and was forwarded to the Rules and Business Committee for review.
