Professor Sani Yahaya, the NNPP’s candidate for governor of Taraba State in the 2023 guber election, has announced that he and the party will file an appeal of the tribunal’s decision.
The petition against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governor of the state, Dr. Agbu Kefas, was dismissed by the tribunal last week.
Yahaya and the NNPP leadership had petitioned the state election petition tribunal, arguing that electoral irregularities rendered the governor’s victory null and void.

In a press conference on Wednesday in Jalingo, the state capital, he voiced his displeasure with the verdict and announced that he and his party had decided to appeal the decision at the Adamawa State Appeal Court, which would be held in Yola.
A statement he made was, “We strongly disagree with the tribunal’s ruling. Evidence of election irregularities has been uncovered by our team, and we believe these incidents had a major impact on the final tally.
He swore he wouldn’t give up until right was done.
To prevent the waste of the state’s resources, Governor Kefas and his deputy, Senator Haruna Manu, had urged Yahaya and the NNPP to accept the tribunal verdict and work together to take the state to new heights.
