President Bola Tinubu has ordered security forces to rescue the remaining female students from Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State, who were recently seized by terrorists. This comes amid varying reactions to the revival of terrorist operations in the country.
This order follows up on distressing reports of a bandit group breaking into a federal university housing and kidnapping a number of pupils.
On Sunday, Tinubu condemned the incident through his media assistant Ajuru Ngelale, calling it a “reprehensible act of abduction.”

Heinous atrocities against people whose only “crime” was to try to get a good education are, in the President’s view, completely unjustifiable.
“While the President deeply sympathizes with all families directly impacted by this sad incident, he affirms that his administration has a solemn duty to protect every Nigerian citizen, and in line with this commitment, assures the families of the abducted students that no effort will be spared in ensuring their safe return,” Ngelale said.
That our nation’s schools will always be safe havens for learning, development, and opportunity, free from the threat of terrorist violence, is a pledge the President has made.
