Recent tragic boating accidents have occurred in Mokwa, Niger State, and Gurin, Adamawa State, and President Bola Tinubu has ordered the appropriate marine sector agencies to investigate these and other incidents thoroughly.
On Tuesday, the President’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, released a statement conveying the order.
He also ordered government agencies to work together closely to determine the causes of the incidents, including law enforcement, maritime, and transportation safety authorities.

Tinubu also expressed his deepest sympathies to the relatives of the victims of the recent boating accidents, which primarily affected children and women.
Tinubu praised the quick action of emergency response teams and volunteers in Niger and Adamawa states, with whom he expressed support, for providing prompt aid to those in need.
Those who were hurt in the incidents, he hoped, would recover quickly.
Moreover, “President Tinubu instructed a comprehensive review of safety measures and a strict enforcement of existing laws on boating activities in the country,” according to the statement.
“He promised the families and communities affected that the government would do everything in its power to ensure that such tragedies would never happen again.”
