NBC, the National Broadcasting Commision, has issued a strong warning to Arise Television about its use of hate speech and other offensive language.
The release of President Bola Tinubu’s academic records by Chicago State University has sparked controversy, according to InfoStride News.
The opposition claims that the certificate the president presented to the Independent National Electoral Commision, INEC for the last election does not match the one the opposition filed, thus the TV station has interviewed several people to educate the public on the possible ramifications of this.

However, NBC’s Director General Balarabe Shehu Ilelah wrote a letter to the TV station on Friday expressing concern that some of the visitors use offensive language during interviews.
The broadcast regulator recommended Arise TV install a delay mechanism to protect viewers from inappropriate content, stressing the importance of monitoring guests at all times.
“The NBC has observed with concern, the preponderance of incendiary remarks allowed on Arise news,” the letter titled “Preponderance of derogatory and incendiary remarks: final warning” reads in part.
This letter is intended to emphasise the weighty burden placed on the broadcaster to moderate the wide variety of visitors who may appear on the station from time to time.
Morning show on 5th October hosted by Reuben Abati, Rufai Oseni, and Ayo Maio-Ese with guests Oladokun Hassan and Dele Farotimi was listed by the commision.
Dele Farotimi made unfiltered, inflammatory comments about the legislature, the executive branch, the judiciary, and the president himself during the broadcast.
“The station was also accused of not conforming to its obligation when airing its programme ” Newsday,” which featured Kenneth Okonkwo, (Spokesperson of Labour Party), who used disparaging statements on air.
Therefore, the commision drew the broadcast station’s attention to sections 1.10.3, 3.3.1(a), 3.3.3(c), 3.3.1(e), 5.3.3(b), and 5.5.6 of the broadcast rule and code.
According to section 5.5.6 of the broadcasting code, “Arise TV is advised to set up a delay mechanism to guard against undesirable contents.”
