The legal counsel to President Bola Tinubu has explained why the United States has not arrested the Nigerian leader over allegations linking him to drug trafficking.
The lawyer said the allegations had no basis for any criminal action against the President in the United States.
He maintained that there was no credible evidence that would warrant Tinubu’s arrest or prosecution over the claims.
The legal practitioner also dismissed attempts to revive the allegations, describing them as politically motivated and lacking substance.
He said the matter had been subjected to legal scrutiny and that the available records did not establish any criminal offence against the President.
The lawyer urged Nigerians to disregard claims suggesting that Tinubu could be arrested by US authorities over the allegations.
He maintained that political opponents were using the issue to undermine the President and create controversy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
