Congo striker Georges Kader Bidimbou will play no part for his team at the ongoing 2015 Orange CAF U-20 Championship in Senegal.
The 19-year old striker has a fractured ankle and won’t be able to recover in time for the tournament that ends on Sunday, 22 March 2014.
Paolo Berrettini, Head Coach of the Junior Red Devils told Cafonline.com that the AC Leopards forward sustained the injury during their preparations for the tournament but his recovery has prolonged other than expected.
“The tournament is over for Bidimbou. He is out of the tournament. We have lost our best player and it is a big blow. However, we are hopeful the others will be up to the task,” said Berrettini, a former trainer of the Italy U-19 side who mentored the likes of Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus, Alberto Aquilani of Fiorentina and Gianpaolo Pazzini of AC Milan
Bidimbou played an influential role for the Congolese especially at the last stage of the qualifiers where the edged out holders Egypt 3-2 on aggregate.
However, there is good news for Berrettini and his charges with the availability of midfielder Constantin Bakaki for the Group A day two clash against Nigeria on Wednesday, 11 March 2015 in Dakar.
The midfielder was suspended for the Group A opener against Cote d’Ivoire last Sunday which ended one-all.
