Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has urged traditional rulers to support Amotekun for proper protection of lives and property in the region.
He revealed this at the Awùjalè’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode, during the investiture of the Awùjalè and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona as the new Chairman of the Ogun State Traditional Council.
According to him, the governors in the region decided to launch the security outfit to tackle the issues of insecurity like kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and other crimes that can impact the socio-economic development of the region negatively.
He added that traditional rulers are needed for Amotekun’s effective functioning because of their closeness to the people at the grassroots.
