A petition filed by the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, to have Vice President Kashim Shettima disqualified was dismissed by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
For picking Kashim Shettima as his vice presidential candidate, the party claimed that Tinubu was inappropriately sponsored by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The opposition party contended that Shettima, even after accepting the nomination for vice president on July 14, was still the APC candidate for Borno Central Senatorial District.

Justice Haruna Tsanani of the PEPT issued a ruling on the case on Wednesday, finding that the APM’s suit concerning the purported muilptle nomination of VP Shettima is a pre-election affair, and thus outside of the PEPT’s authority.
The court also found an abuse of process and found that APM lacked locus standi to institute issues related to Shettima’s nomination and sponsorship.
