Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have foiled an attack on Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering five dane guns and two motorcycles abandoned by fleeing assailants.
Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, noting that the success followed credible intelligence on the movement of suspected bandits from the forest.
According to the statement, on October 9, 2025, troops stationed at Tapga Ngasawa Village received reliable information from locals in Majebiyu Village that a group of armed men had invaded the community, shooting sporadically, vandalizing property, and dispossessing residents of motorcycles and other valuables.

The troops were immediately mobilized to the area and made contact with the attackers. However, upon sighting the advancing soldiers, the bandits fled into a nearby bush, reportedly sustaining gunshot wounds in the process.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism, courage, and swift response.
He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to recovering illegal weapons and preventing their use in criminal activities across Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts aimed at sustaining peace and security in the state.
