Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have neutralised a suspected bandit in a precision strike in Taraba State.
The operation, which took place on Friday, May 3, near Gafar Village in Ussa Local Government Area, was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Jalingo by the acting spokesperson of the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde.
Gafar Village was identified as a key transit route for criminal elements linked to attacks and thefts in the region.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged the suspects in a fierce firefight, killing one bandit. An AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle, reportedly stolen from a civilian, were recovered at the scene,” Olubodunde stated.
He also reported a breakthrough in a separate operation conducted in Bali Local Government Area.
“Troops acted swiftly on intelligence about the movement of suspected bandits from Tongo and Garin Alkali in Adamawa State toward the Shana community. Soldiers pursued the suspects into Yunkunssu Forest and engaged them in a heavy exchange of gunfire, forcing the criminals to flee.
“A locally fabricated revolver, an AK-47 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered after the encounter,” he added.
Olubodunde said the successful operations reflect the commitment of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS to restoring peace and protecting residents in Taraba State.
He urged the public to support ongoing military efforts by providing timely and credible information that can help eliminate criminal threats in their communities.
