Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has said his administration is currently constructing 140 road projects across the 23 local government areas of the state, covering a total distance of 1,335 kilometres across the three senatorial districts.
The governor said all the road projects were conceived and initiated by his administration, while assuring that inherited road projects from previous governments would also be completed.
Governor Sani spoke on Saturday during the commissioning of the asphalt road linking Durum and Kuruntumawa towns in Makarfi Local Government Area.

He stressed that all the ongoing and completed road projects were executed to standard specifications.
The governor recalled that he was in Kuruntumawa in September last year to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the road project, noting that the same road had now been completed and commissioned.
“For many years, this community endured the consequences of poor road infrastructure. Farmers struggled to move their produce to markets, traders faced rising costs, students navigated unsafe journeys to schools, and families experienced delays in accessing healthcare,” he said.
According to him, the Kuruntumawa–Durum road is more than physical infrastructure, describing it as a lifeline that would enhance economic activities, ease access to education and healthcare, and improve the overall quality of life of residents.
Governor Sani reiterated that his administration was fulfilling its campaign promise of rural transformation and inclusive governance, ensuring that both rural and urban areas benefit fairly from development projects.
He disclosed that Makarfi Local Government was among 12 local governments that had not benefited from a single kilometre of road construction in the last 12 years.
The governor also announced that the abandoned Makarfi General Hospital had been remodelled and equipped with modern facilities, adding that it would be commissioned in the coming weeks.
Earlier, the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, said the people of Kuruntumawa requested the construction of the road during the 2023 electioneering campaign.
He said Governor Uba Sani fulfilled the promise made to the community, noting that previous administrations had failed to construct the road despite several assurances over the last 30 years.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Makarfi Local Government Area, Hon. Garba Muhammad Sabon Gari, praised the governor for the developmental projects executed in the area.
He said the restoration of electricity to the local government was the first project carried out by the administration, adding that the award and commissioning of the Kuruntumawa–Durum road project were completed within three months.
