The Management of the United Nigeria Airlines on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Bayelsa State for the commencement of direct scheduled flight operations through the Bayelsa International Airport.
The sealing of the agreement was made known in an official statement issued Wednesday signed by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, which was made available to newsmen.
According to the terms of the agreement, United Nigeria will operate four daily flights in and out Bayelsa International Airport.
United Nigeria will service the Bayelsa International Airport daily from the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MM2) in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
With the MoU, United Nigeria Airlines will commence direct flight operations to Bayelsa International Airport in July 2021.
The MOU was signed in the presence of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri, and the executive council.
Speaking at the occasion, Diri noted that with the signing Bayelsans will begin to reap the benefits of the government’s investment in infrastructure.
Diri also said the venture would open Bayelsa, which is the resource base of the country, not only to Nigeria but to the world.
According to the Governor, United Nigeria Airlines was chosen as partner because of its quality of service and efficiency.
In response, Mazi Osita Okonkwo, ED/COO of United Nigeria Airlines, thanked the government and people of Bayelsa State for choosing the United Nigeria Airlines and assured that the firm would continue to offer the quality service that it was known for.
