Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been proclaimed as the winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in Imo State.
This was declared on Sunday in Owerri by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Prof. Abayomi Fasina, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oye-Ekiti in Ekiti State and the State Returning Officer for the election, announced that the governor received 540,308 votes, comfortably defeating the other candidates.
INEC reports that Athan Achonu of the Labour Party received 64,081 votes, putting him in fourth place, with Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in a distant second with 71,503 votes.
