West Bromwich Albion have turned down a 2nd offer from Tottenham Hotspur for Saido Berahino, the Premier League club have announced.

According to Sky Sports, the White a Hart Lane outfit, who have just two points from three league games this season, have submitted a bid quoted at £22m for the Burundi-born striker.

Spurs initial bid for Berahino was reported to be in the region of £15m.

West Brom confirmed on Monday that it has rejected a transfer request by Berahino, who is understood to be keen on a move away from the Hawthorns.

Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace, said: “Our position remains unchanged. The sale of this player is not on our agenda.”

Berahino scored 14 goals in 38 appearances last season and is under contract at West Brom until 2017.

He has accrued 168 minutes of Premier League action so far this season but has yet to register a goal. He was an unused substitute in Sunday’s 2-3 home defeat by Chelsea.
