NEW YORK, NY–(Marketwired – Jul 16, 2014) – Waywire Networks today announced a number of advances for the growing network of curated video channels.
“We’re pleased and proud to be able to announce that we’ve grown our Curated Channel lineup,” said Waywire CEO Steven Rosenbaum. “Our team of Channel Curators has grown to 25 — bringing quality curated video content to a growing array of topics. And we’ve added an additional 85 branded channels to our network.”
Joining Waywire is COO Todd Tarpley. Tarpley is a digital leader who brings experience in video, print, and web publishing. He was the GM, Digital at Meredith’s Parents Network, where he led digital strategy for Meredith’s parenthood brands. Prior to that, he was VP, Online at Nielsen, where he led digital expansion efforts for the Business Media division. As President/GM, Interactive at Doubledown Media, he launched a profitable digital division for a publishing start-up. He began his digital career at A&E, where he launched the television network group’s interactive division. Said Tarpley, “Waywire Networks’ team and technology are able to bring together content in a way that is both contextual and monetizable. It’s exciting to see the explosive growth of web video and to be a part of building its future.”
Waywire Networks’ newly awarded “Pre-Roll Everywhere” patent gives site owners the technology to launch ad network provided video advertisements as interstitial units before third-party video is called or played. The patent builds on Waywire’s previous Video Channel Creation Patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,117,545) that provides video discovery and channel creation for sites and publishers via web enabled devices. The system receives a customized web interface that contains channel content and metadata, and that allows for various user interactions such as viewing, rating, comment, upload, sharing, playlist creation, video communities, and revenue sharing. The platform provides brands, publishers, and web destinations with a scalable and rapidly-extensible video curation platform that includes video discovery and curation technology to enable publishers to create large, high quality collections of content that they can share, contextualize, and monetize.
“It’s great to see all the choices and options in video now able to be presented to a viewer — in a coherent interface,” said Waywire CEO Steven Rosenbaum. “We’re excited to be able fuel to the fire… driving views and engagement to quality content that was getting lost in the noise.”
