Inter Miami managing owner, Jorge Mas has come out to share how Lionel Messi was convinced to join the MLS club. He recently revealed that David Beckham was heavily involved, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he actually spent 3 years speaking to Messi about the project, but he ensured the discussions never made the Argentine feel pressured.
Jorge added that he even spent the entire World Cup in Qatar, watching Argentina and Lionel play football to familiarize with his game.
His words, “I spent three years. A year and a half, very intensely,”
“I saw it done at the end of May. Beckham talked with Leo, only about football issues, because he was playing. I didn’t want him to feel pressured. We’ve talked in Barcelona, Miami, Rosario, Doha… I spent the entire World Cup in Qatar, watching Argentina. The Apple contract was very important to close it.”
