Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State has reacted to speculations in some quarters that there is crisis in the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress over N100 million inauguration fund.
Badaru, who spoke to journalists in Dutse, Jigawa State capital yesterday, said the report that crisis over the money is causing disquiet in the government and APC in the state, is a figment of the imagination of the publishers, who according to him, are out to cause problems in the state.
The governor described the report as callous, unfounded and unprofessional, adding that his administration did not release any money for the inauguration as that was the responsibility of the former government.
“How could we have spent N100 million on inauguration, when at that time, we had not even been sworn in?” he asked.
Badaru urged the media to always cross-check their facts before going to press, assuring that he will run an open and transparent government and that public funds will be judiciously utilised.
