In order to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, has urged the opposition parties to work together.
Atiku said that the various opposition groups should join forces because the APC was leading the country down the path to dictatorship and a one-party state.
On Tuesday, Atiku welcomed the executive committee of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to his office.

The lack of a strong opposition, according to Nigeria’s former Vice President, is detrimental to the country’s democracy.
According to Atiku: “You have come here today to propose that we should cooperate in order to foster democracy.
But the truth is that our democracy is rapidly morphing into a one-party system, and as you well know, a one-party system is no place for a functioning democracy.
“Everyone can see that the APC is making Nigeria into a one-party dictatorship.”
Democracy is at stake, and future generations will bear the consequences if we don’t band together to oppose what the ruling party is seeking to enact. The mission of defending our country’s democracy cannot be reduced to the actions of a single individual.
