If you woke up tapping your feet or bopping hysterically, it’s because gbedu season is upon us. Early this morning, Kizz Daniel released his much anticipated sophomore album, No Bad Songz.
The 20-track album which spans over 50 minutes enlists the contributions of; Davido, Diamond Platnumz, Diplo, Nasty C, DJ Xclusive, Demmie Vee, Wretch 22, Philkeyz and Ghanaian emcee, Sarkodie. To help you make sense of what the album is all about, here is a detailed guide, answering every fundamental question about the project.
You can say it is slightly braggadocious, but the album title stems from the reality that Kizz Daniel has rightly created since his 2014 breakout single, Woju.
“Over the years, he is someone everybody respects for making good music and to a large extent, he hasn’t dropped any bad song. No Bad Songz will see him do what he does best – which is releasing good songs”, a member of his team posited over a phone call.
We can very well say that No Bad Songz is a mantra that is befitting for an artiste with his discography.
What is the story behind the album cover?
The album cover is an illustration of KizzDaniel burning a midnight lamp while writing on a paper with images representing a demon and an angel whispering into his ears.
As revealed, the album cover represents the concept of balance. “Whatever it is you are doing, there is the bad and the good all trying to influence you. Even when you are writing a song, there could be bad influences (the demon) and good influences (the angel) only for you to choose and have a balance”, we were told.
The cover art was conceptualised by Kizz Daniel who brought it to life through the help of illustrator, Kenny Pen Freak, and photographer/graphic artiste, Amazing Klef.
What role did G-Worldwide play in all of this?
It’s no news that Kizz Daniel exited his former record label, G-Worldwide on not so good terms leading to a series of legal back and forth that eventually caused him to lose his moniker, Kiss Daniel, and settled for Kizz Daniel.
Although by the last report made available to the press posited that the court case was inconclusive, we have been told that his erstwhile label had no input on the album.
No Bad Songz is all Kizz Daniel and his newly-floated Fly Boy Inc label, his team revealed.
What is next for Kizz Daniel?
Hereon, it’s all promotion of the album, touring and releasing music videos. We were also told that the singer may be holding an online concert. “We are likely going to have an online concert – just him and the band performing songs from the album which will be live-streamed maybe on YouTube. We are also going to push singles from the album, more videos and of course, a tour – the UK, the US and probably go back to Canada”.
