Even though she hasn’t released any new music or toured in the last 12 months, Adele’s fortune is reported to have grown by £15 million over the past year.
The London-born singer is said to now be worth £140 million, up from £125 million the previous year. A 121-date tour which ended in the summer of 2017 netted her £42 million alone.
Back in 2015, when she released her album 25, she reflected that she was still living the same, low-key life as before, but now shopped at Waitrose rather than Tesco.
She said: ‘I want to have a real life so I can write records. No one wants to listen to a record from someone that’s lost touch with reality. So I live a low-key life for my fans.’
Yet three years on it’s clear that she has grown into her status as one of the world’s wealthiest women. So what does she spend it on?
Now almost entirely resident in Los Angeles, she travels by £50 million private jet, favours pricier yellow diamonds rather than boring white ones and is thought to have a staff which includes a stylist, personal trainer, assistant and a bodyguard — or two.
Her house is around the corner from close pal Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar-winning actress, and her 30th birthday party this spring was themed around the film Titanic and featured a specially made set to look just like the ballroom from the film.
The cost? Estimated at £250,000. The flowers alone for the wedding bash she threw for her pal Alan Carr in January were said to have cost around £10,000 — and were apparently created by the Kardashians’ favourite florist, Jeff Leatham.
And all that’s before you get into her stupendous designer handbag collection, which is worth more than £50,000.
Let’s tot up what it costs to live the diva life.
Naturally, Adele has a security team who can be seen accompanying her when she pops to the shops or goes out for dinner.
In Los Angeles this spring, her man-mountain was seen carrying her bags back to the car, along with a woman who is believed to be her personal assistant.
There is a larger team when she is touring. The security is said to be co-ordinated through Gavin de Becker, who runs Hollywood’s leading close protection outfit and also runs security for Sir Paul McCartney and the Beckhams.
