J. Cole got back to Twitter on Sept. 24) amid controversy following President Donald Trump’s NFL protest remarks, to deliver a lengthy rant on the power of protesting. Before he delved into his thoughts, Cole shouted out hip-hop’s newest golden child Cardi B and offered the rising rapper some advice regarding her debut album.
“Also Cardi b I seen your breakfast club interview, loved it,” he told the “Bodak Yellow” rapper. “Don’t put all that pressure on your album. You already won. Just drop & repeat.”
Cardi then jumped on Twitter in awe of Cole’s shout-out and responded to him by saying, “Is this real :’)Son my heart is smiling –Well who am I not to take J cole advice.”
J. Cole is just the latest addition to Cardi’s list of co-signs. Janet Jackson recently performed “Bodak Yellow” on stage during her State of the World Tour. Between the celeb support and fan love for “Bodak,” the track just took over the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Oct. 7), knocking Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” from its three-week reign.
