This is another one of those list that I know my readers enjoy.
It’s a compilation of the hottest 5 music producers in the country at the moment. This is just an opinion, if you disagree, feel free to let me know in the comment section.
T-Spize– This young producer is the hottest revelation of the year. We has an infectious pop production, we can clearly associate this to Davido’s Aye, Runtown’s Gallardo, Skales’s Eyes On Your Ikebe, H-Boi’s Feeling You. His first single ‘Lamagado‘ is arguably the hottest tune around now. He’s got some other tracks out too: Irowiro Nwa, For now T-Spize still has an iron grip on the production game in Nigeria. He is clearly the Davido of production. No?
Wizzypro – The fast-rising producer has made a name and carved a niche for himself in Nigeria’s music scene even though he’s been around for a while. His first success was on Patoranking’s 2013 hit ‘Alubarika’. Wizzypro’s star has continued to rise with production for the likes of Timaya, Patoranking, Skales, Runtown and Wizkid. His first single for the year: ‘Emergency‘ featuring Skales, Patoranking and Runtown is a straight up heavy track and the track is still making high raves out there while his production on Patoranking’s Girlie O is smooth and superb. He’s currently working on his album.
Spellz – ‘Spellz was born Ben’Jamin Obadje in Lagos To Mr and Mrs Matthew Obadje from Delta state. His Dad, an engineer and mum, who unfortunately she passed on in 2011 December after a brief illness was a business woman. They both strived hard to give them a comfortable childhood. The name Spellz came from how his drum pattern and the melodies of his Beats made listeners feel like a spell was put on them with the Signature “LISTEN” on his productions. The fourth and last child from a family of six, When asked as a child what he wanted to become when he grew up, he didn’t hesitate to say he wanted to be a legend like Michael Jackson.’
Spellz is so anonymous that people don’t know he is responsible for a lot of hits we groove to. The young man produced Tiwa Savage‘s ‘Folarin’,Banky W‘s ‘Good Loving‘.
He also has Trafic – Quality, Tiwa Savage – Love In Yellow, Banky W‘s ‘Good Loving‘, DJ Spinall ft. Burna Boy – Gba Gbe E, Dammy Krane – ‘Throw Back’, Falz – ‘Toyin Tomato’, DJ Kentalky – ‘HeadAche’ ft. Yemi Alade & Dammy Krane, Burna Boy – ‘Don Gordon’, Shaydee – ‘Chakam’ and many more hits to his production credit in 2014.
His production style was featured a lot on Banky W’s last album. As a result of his growing prominence he is now being managed by Tiwa Savage’s manager Tee Billz.
Selebobo – This Anambra-born producer has risen from being an all-rounder to Made Men Music sound main crafter and Yemi Alade’s most trusted producer. He laced the beats for Yemi Alade’s new singles ‘Johnny’ and ‘Tangerine’- which are already hits. He showed he was no one-trick pony on his production on ‘Ada Ada‘ by Flavour. His works for Made Men Music Group and Yemi Alade has many touting Chopstix to be the hottest producer by the time 2014 calls it a day.
Don Jazzy – Don Jazzy has too many production out as of now and his works clearly speak of his expertise. His work on Tiwa Savage’s Eminado is still bumping the streets here and abroad. Most importantly he crafted one of the hottest songs of this year so far- ‘Eminado‘, ‘Dorobucci’, ‘Surulere’, and just released ‘Adaobi’. His production on these tracks is reminiscent of his Mo’ Hits days when he was the country’s number one hit maker. He’s clealy some steps ahead of his contemporary.
