A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Umar Ardo, has explained why former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi may not be able to form a coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ardo said differences between the political camps of Atiku and Obi could make it difficult for them to reach an agreement on a common political platform.
He maintained that the interests of the various opposition groups and their ambitions could further complicate efforts to form a united coalition.
According to him, both Atiku and Obi have strong political followings, but their individual ambitions could pose a challenge to any attempt to build a formidable alliance.
Ardo said the opposition would need to resolve its internal differences and agree on a common strategy if it hopes to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2027.
He added that political negotiations and compromises would be necessary for the opposition to form a coalition capable of competing effectively in the presidential election.
