Wike Nyesom, minister of the FCT, has denied using a bulletproof automobile that cost N300 million as his official vehicle.
There have been rumours that Wike has just taken possession of a high-end bulletproof vehicle (of around N300 million) bearing the licence plate “FCT 01.”
Wike denied the claims in a Wednesday interview with Abuja-based journalists, stating that the vehicle he uses in his official capacity as FCT Minister is not armoured.

As governor of Rivers State, he utilised a bulletproof car, but now that he’s a minister, he doesn’t feel the need for one.
We can see what’s happening on social media, how they spent N300 million on a bulletproof automobile to replace the one I’m driving,” Wike remarked. I want everyone to go over and rap their hands on that area to verify whether or not the vehicle has been treated.
With due respect, it’s important that no one does harm to anyone else.
The Permanent Secretary informed me upon my arrival that a car had been arranged for our group. So, I have never given the go-ahead for the purchase of any vehicle, and I am not driving a government-issued bulletproof vehicle.
While in my role as governor, I have access to bulletproof vehicles, in my current one as FCT Minister, I do not.
