Activities at the Kogi State government secretariat were on Friday stopped to a complete halt following an indefinite strike embarked upon by workers.
The entrance to the various offices were put under lock and key by workers, a development which prevented directors and management staff to gain entry into their offices.
The strike had also ended activities at the state broadcasting corporation, Water works while senior secondary schools across the state were also affected as they remained closed.
Students of public senior secondary schools were seen going back to their various houses after loitering around for hours as teachers and non-teaching staff refused to show up for work.
Residents have also been thrown into panic and fear as houses had started experiencing shortage of water as taps stopped running early Friday morning due to the strike.
The workers are asking for full payment of their arrears of salary and allowances, leave bonus, yearly incremental, and promotion arrears, among others.
They are also rejecting the introduction of clock in, clock out policy introduced by the state government which they described as punitive and an attempt to witch hunt workers.
