    Yellow Fever Breaks Out In Enugu State

    The Government of Enugu state has commenced the vaccination and fumigation of Ette and Umuopu communities in Igbo-Eze North Local government areea of the state, with high prevalence of yellow fever.

    According to the Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Emmanuel Obi, the vaccination and fumigation is as a result of the outbreak of yellow fever in the area.

    Mr Obi stated that surveillance is being carried out in the state to get information on the epidemic. The commissioner further stated that the vaccination and fumigation is backed by the State Ministry of Health.

    Mr Obi noted that treatment had commenced at the General Hospital Ogrute in Enugu Ezike, and ambulance is available for emergency.

    The state government has in view of this set up a Multi-Sectoral Technical Working Group to address the yellow fever epidemic.
