Splendour Oko Eze, who ran for governor as a candidate for the Labour Party, LP, in the most recent general election in Ebonyi State in 2023, has publicly disowned Prince Aja Nwabueze Igwe, who claims to be the Labour Party’s candidate for the position of deputy governorship.
According to InfoStride News, Prince Aja Nwabueze Igwe, a former commissioner in Ebonyi State, recently made a claim in a statement that he was the Labour Party’s nominee for the position of deputy governorship candidate in the most recent general election.
Igwe published a statement in which he declared his desire to leave the Labour Party and join the All Progressives Congress, also known as the APC.

In the statement, he also announced his resignation from the Labour Party.
Igwe claims that the decision to retire was made after conducting an appropriate engagement process with key stakeholders, political associates, families, and supporters.
But in a rapid response, Eze, who was proclaimed by the supreme court of Nigeria as the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, at the most recent general election, said that Prince Aja Nwabueze Igwe was not even a member of the party in the state.
This was Eze’s response after the supreme court of Nigeria pronounced him to be the candidate.
These assertions were made by Eze in a statement that was signed and distributed to the media in Abakaliki, the state capital of Ebonyi State.
He distanced himself from Nwabueze Igwe and urged the general public as well as members of the Labour Party in the state to dismiss his claims of having been a former deputy governorship candidate of the party in the most recent general election.
He also called on members of the Labour Party in the state.
Eze is quoted as having remarked, “Nwabueze, who recognized himself as the deputy governorship candidate of Labour Party LP Ebonyi State in the just concluded 2023 Gubernatorial election, is nothing but false. ”
Because he has never been a part of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State, he is unable to serve as my deputy in the upcoming election.
My deputy was a gentleman by the name of Sylvester Nwankwo. The general public ought to dismiss Mr. Igwe A. Nwabueze’s allegations in their entirety as they pertain to this matter. He asserted that it was an unmitigated lie.
