The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has announced plans to deploy at least 3,150 personnel across the state’s 20 local government areas and wards for the November 16 local government election.
State Commandant Remi Ekundayo disclosed this during a send-off ceremony for outgoing Commandant David Ojelabi at the NSCDC Ogun Command Headquarters in Abeokuta on Thursday.
Ekundayo emphasized that the deployment aims to ensure voter safety and prevent any form of violence during the election.
“Our primary goal is to uphold peace and safety during the election,” Ekundayo stated, highlighting the Command’s commitment to building on the work of her predecessor.
“We are deploying 3,150 personnel across the state’s local governments and wards to maintain peace on election day.”
Ekundayo also assured that the NSCDC would collaborate closely with other security agencies to achieve a smooth and secure electoral process, reiterating her dedication to maintaining peace in Ogun State.
The outgoing Commandant, David Ojelabi, expressed gratitude to his officers for their support during his tenure.
Reflecting on his time with the Command, he said, “I joined the state as Commandant and leave as Assistant Commander General. I thank my team for their cooperation and support in achieving our goals.”
In attendance was AIG Olushola Subar, Special Adviser on Security to the Governor, who encouraged Ekundayo to follow in Ojelabi’s footsteps and wished him success in his new role.
