The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed shock over Monday’s attack on members of the state’s Community Protection Guards (CPG), which resulted in the death of nine guards.
This was revealed in a statement by the party’s publicity secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, and made available to journalists in Gusau.
“We extend our condolences to the state government and the families of the gallant CPG members,” the statement read.

The APC condemned the ambush by fleeing bandits, describing it as an attack on those who sacrificed their lives to protect local communities.
The party expressed confidence that the ongoing federal government operations against banditry in the northwest will ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“The sacrifices of the CPG members in supporting military operations across the state are deeply appreciated. We urge the state government to assist the bereaved families and encourage the CPG to remain vigilant despite the tragic incident.”
The APC also called on residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious movement of bandits to prevent future attacks.
The statement concluded with prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to grant them eternal rest in Jannaatu Firdausi.
