A Federal High Court sitting in Zamfara State has declined a request for an ex parte order by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), backed by the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, to hold the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
The faction approached the court amid escalating internal disputes within the party, seeking permission to convene the NEC meeting.
However, ruling on the matter, Justice Salim Ibrahim refused the request for the ex parte order.
Earlier, InfoStride News reported that Governor Bala Mohammed and his faction had filed the suit to push for the NEC meeting as part of a broader move to remove the acting national chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum.
The crisis within the PDP has deepened, with opposition from key stakeholders, including allies of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a related development, the Federal High Court in Abuja had previously issued an order restraining the party from removing Damagum from office.
The latest suit, filed by Mohammed’s faction in Zamfara, underscores the intensifying leadership tussle within the PDP.
