The Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) has announced the results of the local government elections in Kaura Namoda and Birinin Magaji Local Government Areas, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerging victorious in both councils.
In Kaura Namoda LGA, former Commissioner of Information, Mannie Mua’zu Haidara of the PDP, secured over 71,000 votes to win the election.
The result was declared by the Returning Officer, Associate Professor Yusuf Kaura, who described the election as free, fair, and widely accepted by the participating political parties across the 11 wards.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), which boycotted the election, garnered 813 votes in the area.
In Birinin Magaji LGA, the PDP recorded another victory, receiving over 57,000 votes, while the APC, despite its non-participation, secured 815 votes. Returning Officer Idris Gusau disclosed that 742 votes were invalid in the council.
The Chairman of ZASIEC, Bala Aliyu Gusau, declared the PDP as winners of all the local government councils in the state, including Kaura Namoda and Birinin Magaji, noting that the party complied with electoral laws and recorded the highest votes across the state.
Following the announcement, Gusau issued Certificates of Return to all the elected local government chairpersons from the PDP.
Despite boycotting the election, the APC received notable votes in the polls. However, the PDP swept all 14 local government areas in Zamfara State.
